Whiptail has always been about more than just roasting incredible coffees. We strive to contribute meaningfully in order to help make the global coffee community more sustainable and more just. Aligning ourselves with organizations, causes and people actively trying to make a change that aligns with our ethics is important to us. These are the organizations we are partnering with:

The Chain Collaborative

Our partnership with a stellar coffee-focused non-profit, the chain collaborative, helps us achieve this important goal.

The Chain Collaborative has been doing incredible work in coffee since 2014, and has grown into a true industry leader. They developed the Specialty Coffee Association’s Sustainability coursework and offer courses to students around the world, and have fostered an incredible model of community-led projects in order to help communities in the coffeelands work toward their sustainable development goals. A focus on listening and engaging with Change Leaders within communities sets their work apart. Our support goes to help coffee growers in places such as Uganda and Ecuador in their efforts.

The Ocean Cleanup

As avid outdoor enthusiasts, clean waterways aren’t an abstract idea for us — they’re something we experience firsthand. Whether it’s rivers, coastlines, or the open ocean, healthy water systems are essential to the landscapes we explore and the ecosystems we care about. Protecting them is a responsibility we take seriously.

Whiptail is an aquatic-animal-themed brand by design, so supporting ocean and river health feels like a natural fit. The animals that inspire our coffees depend on clean, functioning waterways to survive — and so do the communities and environments connected to them.

That’s why we donate monthly to The Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit organization focused on removing plastic pollution from oceans and rivers at scale. Their work combines engineering, research, and real-world deployment to intercept plastic in rivers before it reaches the ocean and to remove existing pollution from major ocean gyres. By addressing pollution both upstream and offshore, they’re tackling the problem at its source while helping restore marine ecosystems.
